DO. HOUSE

A 360° home perched atop a hill engages in a quiet dialogue with its surroundings. From here, sweeping views stretch out over the valley, while the surrounding water and trees offer a sense of seclusion and safety.
By enlarging the natural pond and partially carving into the hill, the house becomes nestled between water and the undulating landscape. The result is an intimate and ever-changing scene. The basement-level pool sits flush with the waterline of the pond, creating a visual connection between the two.
To fully integrate the home into its natural setting, we chose a brick color that harmonizes with the brown-grey tones of the nearby coniferous trees. The cantilevers, cast in acid-washed concrete, create intriguing patterns of light and shadow throughout the day, while the raw texture of the material adds a rugged, organic edge to the building.
In the open-plan living area on the ground floor, the panoramic view and natural light take center stage—always framed by a sense of comfort and protection. Warmth reveals itself in thoughtful details: a closable sitting room, generous windows with built-in seating, and a layout designed for retreat as much as openness. Architecturally, it’s a modest home—defined by a delicate interplay between spaciousness and intimacy.
